Very windy this morning but the sun was out and before setting off we made use of the tourist park hot pools.

Today we headed for Wai-O-Tapu (Sacred Waters) Thermal wonderland. All I can say is if you only get the chance to see either Hells Gate or Wai-O-Tapu go to the latter. In our opinion, it was by far the most spectacular geothermal park. To many photos to post here so will add a link to my web album at a later date. (not enough power in the laptop battery as we have gone 'free camping' and no power available). As soon as we arrived the tickets were purchased for the Lady Knox Geyser. At 10.15 precisely it erupts! I was dead impressed that this geyser went off at the same time every day until we had sat waiting for 45 minutes and nothing had happened. Then a chap turned up, gave a speech and promptly poured a load of washing soda down the middle!! That worked a treat and 'thar she blew'.
Anyway, it was still impressive but not as impressive as the rest of the place. Took us over 4 hours to walk around and see everything but the colours were stunning.
No visit there would have been complete without a visit to the mud pools
Huka Falls was next. Heading toward Taupo we came across the sign and to date, this must be the most spectacular falls we have seen and the most popular...
