Impatient gets you nowhere.

So did anyone stop up last night to see the meteorite display? I felt to ill to bother but Ian stayed up until well past midnight. The skies were amazingly clear and he was full of anticipation of seeing a spectacular display. He stood with his neck craned peering up at the sky for over an hour and only one meteorite showed itself. He was that disappointed and this morning he awoke to a stiff neck!!! So back to today.Our timings were spot on this morning. The forecast looked abysmal and we very nearly stayed where we were, but with no sign of the forthcoming rain, we pulled pins and headed for Beale Park. First we made a water stop at Cleve lock. Slowest tap by far on the Thames, not helped by an impatient cruiser captain using the 'filling bottles only' tap! He was joined by another cruiser, a hire boat, also waiting for water. Then with The African Queen arriving the lock keeper made the newbie cruiser leave! No room for the Queen to pass you see!!! Felt a bit sorry for him as he was desperate for water and the next water point wasn't until Abingdon. I suppose he could have hovered a bit but decided to go on.

We managed to get moored on by Beale park and only just in time as the rain came down in earnest.
Didn't  expect to see many boats on the move but those that did come past the helmsman and women looked pretty miserable. Can only think they needed to be somewhere. The Coots enjoyed the weather though.
