About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Dry Dock

Nothing much to report while sitting at Sandiacre. Ian and I did the Granny and Grandad thing. Our grandson Oscar developed Chicken Pox and was pretty ill with it. So much so that he ended up in hospital with extremely high temperature. I went down to Milton Keynes to help look after him for 5 days, then when he was on the road to recovery I went to my daughters up in Swadlincote to look after our other grandson Joshua while Christine went into work for a few days.  So much to our plan of letting the kids fend for themselves!! We had the Pie and Pea do at the Lock cottage on the 27th March and finally left to dry dock the boat at Kingfishers Trent Lock on 2nd April. Dennis and Margaret, Dave and Heather, Mick and Carole and us had booked in for a week with Dennis and Dave going on first.
