About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Embsay crag

Ian wanted to walk up Embsay crag. This was a round trip of three and a half mile. As you can imagine half of it was uphill. I very nearly gave up but Ian was sure I would make it so I carried on regardless, as you might say. The climb was worth every tiring step as the views from the top were spectacular. .

I told the dogs to have a well earned rest. I was glad to sit down as well but don't tell the dogs that.

Ian admiring the view.

Ian admiring the photographer seems more appropriate. Unless the view is behind you...
